POWERTONE/UV2 TOM TUNING TUTORIAL
Howdy All! Here's my latest Step by Step drum tuning lesson "PowerTone/UV2 TomTuning Tutorial" in which I take you STEP BY STEP from ground to sound through three great tom tuning intervals for a 12"/14" tom setup while maintaining a Perfect 4th interval BETWEEN the toms at all tunings. These are intervals I've used in my 22 years as a pro drum tech tuning drums for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Rhianna, and Dead & Co. With step by step overhead shots/graphs, pitches, tune bot settings, AND drum dial settings this is a GREAT tutorial for any drummer wanting to learn how to tune a drum step by step to 3 great tom tuning intervals. Tuning interval 1: Even tuning where the batter, and resonant heads of the toms are tuned equally to the same pitch. This interval has a long sustain, and a very rich tone. Usually a touch more pillowy as the heads move together in a similar wave pattern. Great for everything in terms of a basic all around drum sound. Tuning Interval 2: Reso a Major 3rd Higher Than The Batter. This tuning tightens up the sustain while keeping a round tone. A bit more definition, and attack. Great for classic rock, country, R & B, and jazz. Tuning Interval 3: Reso a Perfect 4th Higher Than The Batter. This tuning tightens up the sustain even more while keeping a warm tone, but with a bit more punch, definition, and attack. Great for rock, modern country, gospel, pop, and outdoor/large venues.
How To Install A Resonant Snare Head , and snare wires.
Howdy All! Here's an awesome lesson in changing out your resonant snare head, and in setting up your snare wires properly. It's also a multifaceted demo video allowing you to hear the difference between a Rogers Dyna-Sonic, and a Rogers Super Ten snare drum. I included the entire video so you can hear what differences in hoop thickness, snare strainer setup, AND mics (Earthworks DM20 vs Soundhoops SM101) can do for your snare sound. That way in addition to the lesson, you the drummer have a better understanding of what these products do for you vs just relying on marketing.
8 WAYS TO TUNE A 14 X 22 BASS DRUM
Hello everyone Drum Tech, Kenny Sharretts here. Thank you for stopping by kennysharretts.com to stream this free bass drum tuning lesson. Originally this lesson was meant to be a step-by-step drum tuning lesson for my pay-per-view page but alas some of the step-by-step footage was unusable. Moreover, the instruments I use to document 100% repeatable tunings for my viewers were compromised as the batteries in my Tune bot were low, and I accidentally dropped my drum dial Mid shoot. Hence I no longer had 100% confidence in the pitches I had documented HOWEVER, since the drum sounds were good, and there was so much useful information in the video I decided to use my good data, and my ears to pretty accurately guess-timate the pitches I used in this video. That way at least drummers like you get a great free lesson that may help all of you find the perfect tuning interval for your bass drums. Along the way I hope you will stream one of my step by step drum tuning lessons to give yourself a wicked set of tuning skills based on my 23 years of experience tuning drums for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson , Rihanna, Puff Daddy, Elvis Costello, or my current gig w/ Mickey Hart & The Dead ! All while helping to support my YouTube Channel. So please while you are here at kennysharretts.com. stream a step by step lesson, check out my free tuning blogs, tuning vids or lesson charts. Now on too the bass drum tuning lesson. Sent from the cell of Kenny Sharretts

A LESSON IN TUNING UP YOUR KIT AFTER A GIG FULL WIX
Hello Everyone. Here's a 5 part drum tuning lesson on some of what I've found to be the most common tuning fixes I use after I play a gig or after the drummer for whom I'm teching plays a gig. The examples I used are situations I find ALL the time as a tech, whether I'm doing a tuning lesson online OR re-tuning a drummers kit after they rocked a stadium the night before. These are also techniques I use to keep my kits in tune from gig to gig when I drum in between tech tours. No matter what, this 5 part lesson will also help to teach you the fundamentals of the 2 key tuning system that I use as a tech for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Rihanna, Janet Jackson, Train, and Dead & Co. If these methods work for me they will work for you so please stream this lesson to get a wicked set of tuning lessons while helping to support my YouTube channel. This lesson has tips for a 13" tom, a 16" floor tom, a 10 lug bass drum, an 8 lug snare, and a 10 lug snare including a tip that also is THE way to tune a 5 lug tom. However, the lessons ARE NOT SIZE SPECIFIC. They are lug pattern specific over a range of sizes. Hence these tuning lessons will work for almost every drum kit on the planet.
